it would be client side like the guy said, just like viewing the cape, so no lag.

You should buy armour for the bonuses of each particular type and how they work with your playing style/character strategy, not how it looks. Such trivialities are why there are 15k and FOW armour sets.

Please tell me you are kidding. Why was dye implemented into this game? Why is there even such a thing as 15k armor? Why does ANET put so much work into trying to make this game so good as they have? Gg.

I even have UI concept screenshots of how we could preview the armor and dyes. Glad to see a lot more people would enjoy being able to do so
On a related note, if they do currently have the cape design only use client-side resources, then they could make dye and armor previewing the same way. Then we wouldn't need to pay a platinum like I had suggested to cut back on lag caused by overusing those features . Not having to pay for it would make it even more fun and useful!

I too would like a dye previewer as well, dying simple green or silver or black gets old after a while. It would be NICE to be able to preview different dye combos, it would add more individuality to chars. And different armors dye different. Like 1.5k Canthan armor dyes more pastel than others, and mesmers can't get white from silver etc.
And as for the idea of looking at someone else's armor that works to get an idea of the armor, but with different hair colors and skin tones the armor that looks good on mary lou might look horrible on you. Unless I find a clone I wouldn't be fully satisfied.
So yea definate /signed for me

i'd like to compare luxon and kurzick 15k on my necro, can't decide what i'll get (and having 2 guildies with one of those sets each doesn't really help me make my choice... i'd like to see it on my own char in full detail.

on a side note- you people experiencing lag should do some general upkeep on your computer... ive never had a problem with it on any of a few different computers and hardware setups. gg.

Its safe to say armour is purely asthetic in this game. I know WoW has a costume preview option, but thats not a reason to not have one in Guild Wars.
Honestly.

NO it won't.
The files for armor are downlaodes ONCE.
You woul only tell your own client to show your model with that armor.
Just like the cape preview window. More that easy to be done.
Just made a try button that opens the 'dye preview' window with the full set of armor equiped, so you can also can try dyes with that armor. Select any of the armor parts then hit 'preview' you see the full set of that armor on your character.
You like it? You buy it.

I hate having to wait for a game site or guild wars fansite to update their armor screenshots.

An Armor Preview Window like the Dye Preview would be cool.
